How to figure out what you’re “meant” to do

If you’re still trying to figure what you want to be when you grow up, then you are not alone! But how on earth are you meant to narrow down the possibilities out there?

Well we’ve put together a few ways to figure out what you’re meant to do with your life…..

Make a list of your interests

What do you like doing in your spare time? What parts of you current job do you like? What articles do you always click on, who do you follow on your social channels?

This may all seem a little random but all of these things add up to create a true representation of what you love doing, which is great first step to finding your ideal career.

Make a list of things your good at

Or you good at art? Are you good at comforting people? Are you good at learning new things? This list could be endless and don’t worry of you list doesn’t immediately shout “career” there are other attributes to take into account.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Don’t worry if it sounds a bit silly, it’s not about the actual title but what it represents; for example astronauts want to explore, vets want to care for living things and the list goes on but you get the picture,. I wanted to be a fairy princess which I think translates into me wanting to be the boss….kind of makes sense.

In your own mind, what does your fulfilled work-self look like?

Are you interacting with people? Are you helping people? Are you in a power suit wowing boardroom? You are meant to be best you best self so it’s important to know what that looks like to you.

Now you just have to look for overlaps….

You need to have interest, skill, perseverance, and determination. If any of those aspects aren’t present, you probably aren’t going to actually be able to accomplish your dream life the way you want to. There’s “luck but it’s better to rely on what you can control: what you want to do, how well you can do it, and how you’re going to create a consumable product/profession out of it.

We hope this process helps you figure out where you want to be in the future.
